Powerbook battery reconditioning

I have my second PBG4/800.

My original TiBook's battery died after a year's hard service - so that  
it only holds 30" charge.

The second book, now a year old, only holds charge for about 75" and  
getting worse.

I have ordered a new battery, but is there any way to recondition old  
batteries to restore some more life to them?
