I thought the lighted power supply came with the 550 Mhz or later Tibook, so I tend to agree with your tech that you seem to have got a newer supply than your computer should have had from the beginning. Before you ran out of AppleCare I suggest that you check the technical specification on your PowerSupply with the one "which you should have had (?)" from the beginning and insist to Apple that you get the right one unless they can assure you, in writing, that it doesn't make any difference. Just maybe this powersupply gives 24 and your Ti like to have 24.5. My total lack of technical knowledge then still suggest that your Ti isn't receiving entirely what it needs and the battery will be negatively effected in the long run.
