Holy Smokes,

I must need sleep, i used MPEG4 from Honestech under VirtualPC on my 
Mac... oops.

Right now I'm using 3ivx D4 PR2 and PR1 [decoders] and the msmpeg4v1 
and 4v2 for encoding. I think they're at www.sourceforge. Simple 
.component files that go in the root library 'QuickTime' folder.

I'll grab a coffee, raid the external drives and see if I still have 
a Mac standalone app that's a freebie, or close to it.
