No, in the TiBook problem occurs with most cables, although there are a 
few where it isn't as bad. Completely removing the plastic thing that 
keeps the connector in the port also works - but that makes it 
difficult to move the computer, and the wire is pretty much ruined for 
other uses.

Hmm, that could be it...It's difficult to see _what_ is actually making 
the connector stick.
