I'm not too sure if this is time for a rebuild or not, running Panther (10.3.7) on a Titanium 550, 768MB RAM, 7 Gigs free. Not running too many plugins, but... Safari is just slow. When opening up one page, it pegs the computer at 100% - I'm not too sure if this means the preferences are corrupted, or if Safari itself is corrupted. The Finder crawls to a stop when opening up a few windows. Generally, everything is taking a long time and it is painful to work with. I'm "concerned" about running Onyx or MacJanitor as I'm not too sure which cleaning methods will change system behaviors. I almost bought a 15" 1.5 Ghz with AppleCare and a Superdrive for $500 off, but resisted as I'm using the PB G5 as sort of a restraint* from spending my money. Thanks! John Pariseau *The theory goes something like this: Eventually there will be a PB G5, eventually. It will cost roughly the same price as the current models+inflation. If I buy a PB G4 NOW, Apple will release the G5 tomorrow. While this will benefit the rest of Apple users, it will cause me no end to suffering. I won't be able to sell my brand new PB, and will think that the G5 will perform above and beyond that of the PB G4. However, if performing above and beyond the G4 is not in performance but in heat... And please spare me talks of heat transfer - I'm taking a heat transfer class right now, and have NO desire to model the hypothetical heat transfer rates needed for a hypothetical PB G5 CPU. <<shudder>>
