I should have pointed out that it's when in addition replacing the display hook that everything needs to be taken apart more or less. This is sometimes part of the problem. PBfixit have the latch for about $50. They also have a manual for the operation here: <http://www.pbfixit.com/Guide/PDF/33/ PowerBook_G4_Ti_DVILatch.pdf>. While this one is for the DVI titanium, the operation isn't much different.
