Thank you everyone.

I downloaded Flip4Mac, http://www.flip4mac.com/wmv.htm, and real
success  at last. The videos played beautifully in small format
and with excellent sound too. He is only 20 weeks, but I understood 
every word!!
(which is more than I do about how modern technology works).
Will keep quiet now!
