automatically disconnecting dial-up

Dear all,

Is there a way to automatically disconnect a dial-up session?

For example, I'd like my eMac to download e-mail when I'm not at the 
desk. I figure I can manually dial up and click on "Get Mail" but how do 
I make sure that the eMac disconnects the dial-up when all of the e-mail 
have been down-loaded?

By the way, I'm on an eMac 700mhz with OSX 10.1.5.
