WireTap is probably the easiest way to go...

pick the tab: utilities

click on "freebies" right under the tabs.


A) it will record any audio passing through the Mac
B) it can be AppleScripted
        it has a couple of sample scripts included

Once you have an applescript application just "open" it from the 
command line.

open <appname>

Note that you can use open to "double click" any Mac OS X application 
from the command line. Keep in mind, "open" may simply launch a GUI, 
depending upon the way the application is written. But it works.
