I believe the rumors are half right. Apple will not be dumping the PowerPC, but they will be announcing support for Intel, in addition to PowerPC, within their future computers. This gives them much greater flexibility. They'll put into place the tools developers need to be able to develop and distribute products with both Intel and PowerPC binaries. It won't mean Mac OS X running on current Intel/AMD boxes, and it won't mean abandoning existing PowerPC-based Macs, nor even abandoning PowerPC for future products. Rather, they'll simply be able to choose among a wider array of processors for future products. They'll be giving a heads-up to developers that they'll need to be ready for future Apple computers having either IBM PowerPC or Intel (and perhaps AMD as well) processors in them. Steve
