Nope - with the volume down, or speakers disconnected, its dead quiet.

In playing around with iTunes, I've noticed that the static is minimal 
if I turn the iTunes volume to the max, and control the volume with 
system volume. If I turn the iTunes volume down and turn the system 
volume up, the static gets much worse. Don't know what that means . . .
