Thanks for the input Stroller. I have found solutions to both issues - I think. - I got some ideas from the Apple Discussions forum. The Mail failure was caused by the two Bundles in the Bundles folder (~/Library/Mail/Bundles) Remove the two - in my case Spam Sieve and Growl - and problem disappears. They both appear problematic, as I have tried re-introducing them one at a time with the same result. In relation to Spotlight, I have forced it to re-index as follows: add the HD to the Privacy section (as in 'do not search') of the Prefpane. After a couple of minutes remove it from the exclude list and then it re-indexes. It's doing it again now, with approx 2 hours remaining. Yesterday it indexed the whole disk (apparently) in twenty minutes. So far so good then, though I notice that uControl is not working and iCal won't launch. It bounces, shows a window but crashes before it can load any Calendars. So round here it's called iCant... I have removed the Calendar folder, still won't launch, repaired permissions etc. Ideas? Thanks for everything Regards Terry Devlin When one engine fails on a twin-engine airplane, you always have enough power left to get you to the scene of the crash. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
