Another question is should I unplug my several external firewire drives
prior to installation - then plug them back in when all is safe....

Also : a while ago I installed a separate install of apache web server (v
2.0.48) (which is active but I never use it...) Is it OK - or  How do I get
it to stop auto loading on boot up (I know little about it)?
