[X4U] external Firewire drive unmounts

I have the same thing on my machine with tiger. Fast switching looses  
the firewire drives.  I also find if I dismount the drive and remove  
it for a while, that when I reinstall it spotlight will no longer  
search/find anything on it. Tiger seems to have issues with firewire  
drives.
