[X4U] Tiger (10.4.1) - Stickies unstuck?

Hi,

Latest query. My Stickies seem to have become "unstuck".

For some reason whenever I restart the machine (Stickies are a "Login 
item") the existing stickies database file is cleared and replaced 
with a single blank yellow stickie. I've managed a workaround by 
keeping a duplicate stickiesdatabase file in \users\me\library and 
just replacing the corrupt one whenever it happens.

A couple of questions from this:

1. Does anyone know of a permanent fix for such an issue (or is it an 
attempt to get me to convert to the stickies widget)?

2. If it is is, is there an easy way to covert stickies from the 
"Stickies" application to stickies for the widget (I have few so 
copying and pasting whilst possible is not preferred)?
