[X4U] safari weirdness; at launch, resources folder opens

Running 10.4.3 on two machines. On one of them, everytime Safari is  
launched (auto at startup, or any manual) the resources folder  
(startup volume/Applications/Safari/Contents/Resources) is opened on  
the screen.
Why, I don't know. Any ideas how to stop this aggravation?
I suppose I could try trashing prefs or reinstalling Safari, but I'd  
like to think there is some specific action that will nullify this  
particular behavior. Thanks.
