Right, transcription is the process we're trying to make more efficient. Currently her school provides all the equipment, which consists of a video camera of some sort. At the end of the interview she walks out with a VHS tape. Not sure whether she can provide her own equipment or not. The iPod voice recorder would be nice because this weekend my project is to teach her how to at least get the audio off the VHS and onto her computer where she can more easily go through the audio. Currently she's constantly pausing/rewinding the VCR and trying to listen through the 13" TV speaker ... yikes! I think just a simple audio program and a pair of headphones on her computer is going to make her life a lot easier. Something that would autogenerate at least a first cut at text would have been like a godsend to her. Not giving up on that though. It may not be built into OS X (I'm on 10.4.2 btw) out of the box, but it's obviously able to recognize speech ... so is it hackable, or AppleScriptable? matt.
