[X4U] mail issue

Hello.

My wife just spent many hours over several months
paring down/deleting the mail in her In box (it got
waaayyy out of hand.)  Sometime yesterday the computer
crashed.  When she turned it back on and logged in ALL
the messages were back.  Now she must go back and get
rid of all the emails.  Anybody know how to prevent
this from happening in the future?  Thank you.
