Even without knowing it, you may have multiple versions of Helvetica and/or Helvetica Neue active at once. I replaced my .dfonts with Adobe Type 1 versions, and I get this problem on occasion, too. A reboot typically clears whatever cache is confused, and business continues as usual. (I don't use Fusion, I still use FontReserve, and have this same occasional phenomenon in OS X 10.3.X.) peace, Linda
