Sorry..no, not by itself. But if you install Word Services, you get an 
option for "Statistics..." in the Services menu, and THAT does the 
word/character/line/a few others count.

there are a couple of other goodies I use, too, likce Calc Service and 
Anti-Word service you can find too.
