Note that the people whose mail clients don't recognize URLs are probably pretty much the same set as the people who won't be able to deal with HTML. So, take two giant steps backwards and no steps forward. Also, given all the phishing, she should not be relying on clickable links. The best advice is to NEVER click on a link in a mail message.
