Robert, Interesting idea, thanks. I did a get info and the date said 1/22. I am guessing that if Apple doesn't reread the file every X minutes then it should come up as the same as the last save. Either the overlay is being done in memory (and it reflects what the panel says) or something is getting past the last update reference. The other possible option is that there is an error in the file somewhere and when the system goes to read it the data is either incorrect or garbage. A delete of the file should tell me. But I would (HOPE) that at least Apple would report an error (if there is one) on the console at start up time (it doesn't seem to). Ed I will try and trash it weds and see if it makes any difference. I will report back then.
