[X4U] Laptop noisy

PowerBook G4 17 inch, 1GHz, Mac OS X 10.5.7

This laptop spends a lot of time recently running the fan, if that's
what makes it noisy. Sometimes it gets very slow for a minute or two.
(I had my hard disk replaced last month after a crash. I also
sometimes have difficulty booting up - the video doesn't come on. I
bought a PRAM battery from appleparts.com and had that installed -
Foolish of me, I think, it made no difference - new PRAM battery as
bad as the old one.)

at 16.22 the system log said:

I ran diskWarrior - nothing wrong but I rebuilt the directory anyway.
I ran Applejack and restarted.

Now the system log says:

What is going on? Does all this mean anything to someone? What is
kdcmond, and what should I do about it?
