I get this approximately once per month. I have come to simply quit  
Mail, and re-launch it as my method of dealing with it. After I quit  
and relaunch, it goes for another month without asking for a password.

Re-entering the passwords is of no help, as they had already been  
entered and in-use for years now...

I accept it as a quirk of OS X Mail.app
