Progress but I don't know why. The first time I tried ImgBurn the creation of the disk image went well, but when I went to write it to a new disk, the available space on the new disk was only about 1.55 GB. The write aborted as I reported earlier. I was trying to respond to a question about ow much space was available. I couldn't remember exactly so I stuck another new disk in the drive... And wonder of wonders, the data on this new disk indicated that there was a full 4.7 GB of space available. So I tried burning it again. Et voilå, next thing I knew, I got a message that said that my disk was written successfully. And then I rushed down to the DVD player on my TV, it proved to be a fully functioning backup copy. Perfect images and sound too. So maybe I'm having a Sony DVD disk problem like the one Dennis C mentioned. I guess next shopping trip I'll pick up a brand of disk other than Sony for some experiments. Again, thanks to all for your help John On Feb 7, 2011, at 4:55 PM, Jeff Carruthers wrote: > John: I use DVD-R blank disks all the time to make DVDs that can be viewed on my TV via a DVD player, both using my MacBookPro and using a DVD Recorder. > > Have you tried using a DVD-R? > > Also, what's the source for the DVD you are trying to burn? > > Finally, I agree with other comments about using a slow speed to record the session. > > Jeff > > On Feb 7, 2011, at 4:25 PM, John Erdman wrote: > >> Thanks for the tip about ImgBurn. I found it on my own about 30 mins ago. Looks almost exactly like DVD Decrypter. It appears that they're related. Nevertheless the size of the image from the original DVD is exactly the same. AND it still doesn't see any more that 1.55GB of space on the new DVD+R and there fore aborts.... but it does allow me to try to ignore the mismatch. Alas, the burn stops with error messages about 1/2 way thru the write. >> >> Still looking for ideas from other fora.
