[X4U] Why is my DVD Capacity so small?

I've found Taiyo Yuden disks to be very reliable and reasonably priced
(in bulk).

I have tried the verbatim disks they recommend and my burner (PIONEER
DVD-RW DVR-108:) likes the Taiyo Yudens better.
YMMV.
