Apple makes the same claims on the Mac Pro. It's not just Apple that understates RAM capabilities. Though I think the worst system I ever saw with this problem was the DEC AlphaStation 4/233. DEC claimed it could go to 192Mb, when in reality it could be taken to 768Mb! In addition to Crucial I'd recommend taking a look at Other World Computing.
