What is going on here? I thought the demo of Word X had lousy rendering 
but so does AppleWorks. I turned on the font rendering for the menu and 
that is excellent but the actual document really stinks.

OK, I remembered a haxie called Silk and downloaded it from 
Verstiontracker.com. It's shareware with a two week trial period. This 
does the job. Obviously Apple has not fixed the rendering with 
AppleWorks and this little bit of software does the trick.

Note, reported funkiness but that this does not occur if you turn OFF 
the global rendering and then ADD AW to the options. The rendering now 
is not quite as good as Acrobat but significantly better.

NOTE: if other applications begin acting up, deinstall the haxie.
