You shouldn't have to worry about viruses that take advantage of Outlook. They mostly exploit the Visual Basic abilities to take over a system, and they don't use the same code as the Mac does. Visual Basic is system-intensive, meaning that it requires specific codes for the system it's on, which won't work on another OS. The only viruses anyone has to look out for are rare MS Word macro viruses. -----Original Message----- From: Paul Bernhardt <pbern10 at xmission.com> Sent: Dec 2, 2003 12:27 AM To: iBook List <ibook at lists.themacintoshguy.com> Subject: [P1] Mail Vs. Entourage I'm fascinated by the Mail vs. Entourage discussion because I have some dissatisfactions with mail and would like it to have a new thread. I have not used Entourage, part of my anti-MS attitude. The very positive statements about it made here lead me to rethink my position. My major caution has been all the problems I've heard about with Outlook macro viruses and fears that they could easily be adapted for Entourage on the Mac. I admit that this is a fear based on nothing more than both are MS email/scheduling/contact programs and an assumption that they share architecture and coding.
