Repeat after me: "I will NEVER believe ANYTHING a Best Buy salesman
tells me."

I tried out the Canon Lide 20 and it is as fine a scanner as anything
else on the market for that level of consumer scanner. It was as fast
as any other USB scanner (which is to say not very) and the results
were just fine. I used it to scan a hefty number of photos on deadline.

Best Buy is a TERRIBLE place to buy *anything* unless it a) will never
need repair or b) is at least 50% below the cost anywhere else.
Otherwise, it's just not worth it.
