[P1] Capturing video clips from DVD

I have no idea if this would work, but I've hooked my 'book to a TV with the
Apple AV cable, run a slide show to the TV, while recording it to a VHS
tape. If I could transfer a slide show to VHS this way, is there some reason
you couldn't do the exact same thing with a DVD?
