Mac OS 9 will truncate the file names and if I remember correctly you will have to rename the files when you go back to Mac OS X. If your still intersted in modify your file names take a look at A Better Finder Renamer http://www.versiontracker.com/moreinfo.fcgi?id=11366&db=mac. -Brad On Sunday, January 12, 2003, at 07:55 AM, Roberto wrote: > Hi all, > > I'd have a question. > > I have to move some hundreds of files from my iceBook (running Mac OS > X.2) > to my old Power Mac (running Mac OS 9.1), but unfortunately all these > files > feature names too long for Mac OS 9, so I'd have to rename them all, > shortening their file name somehow. > > Doing this manually would take a lot of time: does anyone know if > there is > any smart utility which does it automatically (that is, an utility > performing a sort of «batch file name truncating for Mac OS 9»)? > > > Thanks in advance, > > Roberto Giannotta > Trieste, Italy > > > ---------- > iBookList, a listserv for users and fans of Apple's iBook. > FAQ at <http://www.themacintoshguy.com/lists/iBookListFAQ.shtml> > > To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <ibook-off at lists.themacintoshguy.com> > To switch to the DIGEST mode, E-mail to > <ibook-digest at lists.themacintoshguy.com> > Need help from a real person?
