As I understand it, Yes.  If the unit is less than 1 year old
Apple doesn't care who originally bought it.  You may have to
prove purchase date, tho, if the manufacture date (which Apple
Care tech support can look up from the serial number) is more
than 1 year before the day you register the extended AppleCare.
