Well, I just checked and it turns out I have the first incarnation 
600mhz iBook.  Darn.

But it is STILL noticeably faster -- particularly running OSX -- than 
the 500mhz iBook.  Which means, of course, that a second-generation 
600mhz iBook would be even better yet....
