There's a very detailed manual here on the chemistry and engineering of all
kinds of rechargeable batteries; you can either buy the book, read it online
or download it a chapter at a time.

As I remember it, the gist of his instructions for Li ion batteries is to
store them out of the equipment at 40% charge. I tried doing this, but
shortly afterwards we had a power failure and I got lazy. I also did a bit
of a search on the Apple site and from memory they recommended storing at
full charge. Buchmann's science looks more credible to me.

I'm interested in other people's experience and ideas on this. How much can
you extend the life of the battery, and is it worth the inconvenience?
