Pop-up track pad?

My daughter's 12" white iBook developed an odd problem --
the track pad popped up until it was on a level with the button.
She pushed it down until it clicked into place, then complained
that it jumped around. It worked OK for me when I booted it up
and had a look.

Has anyone seen that happen? I have AppleCare; should I
take it in now or wait to see if it flakes out?
