[P1] OT: Safari trouble

Have you trashed your Safari preferences? It's a plist file in 
home/Library/Preferences called "com.apple.safai.plist" or something 
similar.

If you're using one designed for the older version it might have been 
mangled when you tried it with the new one.

Trash this file then try starting Safari again.
