Ichat AV / iSight under Panther

Has anyone here had the same problem:

Ichat AV tells me that my iSight is being used by a different app, which is
not true. This happened since I installed panther ...

The cam runs fine in other apps, evocam e.g. (and yes, evocam was off when I
tried).. 

Ichat AV worked fine with iSight under 10.2.8

Also ... I noticed that when I plug the cam in, the icon does not switch
from mic to cam ... I have to quit iChat and start it again (which sucks)

Any ideas ?
