To me, this wouldn't be a minor difficulty, since I am on lost of lists, 
and have lots of unread mail, as well as lots of read mail that I've 
saved. For most of list mail, I save only those read mails I want to 
keep. So, if they all became "unread," that would defeat the way I work 
with mail.
