The version number is not the end of it in Mac OS X. They could well be very different builds. If someone with a new PowerBook, and someone with a G5 would post the build numbers of their 10.2.7 installs, we can clear this up (you'll find the build number by choosing "About This Mac" from the Apple menu, then clicking on the OS version number. It is something of the form of 6Rxxx for OS 10.2.x). > The first forum debates the merits of installing 10.2.7 on Macs other > than G5s; apparently one person tried it and didn't kill his computer. > > Anyone here want to try installing 10.2.7 on his/her iBook? While regular OS X installs are (largely) generic, it is very much conceivable that 10.2.7 (either version) isn't. Either 10.2.8 or 10.2.9, or at most 10.3 will be the great equaliser. ,xtG .tsooJ -- Real freedom scares you, 'cause it means resposibility. - Jello Biafra -- Joost van de Griek <http://www.jvdg.net/>
