Mine (600 MHz) "fixed itself". I sent it back about 2 weeks after I got it and they "fixed" it but it started squeaking again after a few weeks. I found that opening and closing the lid about 5 or 6 times made the squeak disappear, only to reappear after a few days - eventually, the noise stopped altogether. I don't know if it would have stopped anyway or whether my periodic working of the lid was the cure.
