[iBook] ethernet port out

Recently I rebuilt my snow dual usb iBook 500 MHz G3 disk, with 640 
MB and an airport card, and wiped it clean, reinstalled Jag to 10.2.8 
and Classic to 9.2. Since I rebuilt it I can't get it to connect to 
the LAN over the ethernet port, even tho the settings are all the 
same as a G4 iBook that I can connect with. In addition I can connect 
to the net via the airport card.

Does anyone have any suggestions that it might be other than the 
actual port having failed? Or is the fix to take it in and have it 
fixed under Apple Care?
