iBook Clamshell Ethernet Problems

Maybe the dual USB has autosensing ethernet, and the PeeCee laptop does not (like the clamshell). When I connect my clamshell to my Performa, I need a crossover cable, but connecting to my friend's TiBook is okay with a regular ethernet cable because the TiBook automatically converts for direct ethernet connection.
(in which case you will need a crossover cable between the Clamshell and PC)
Dave.
