Mixed mode wireless speed

I understand that there's a problem using slower 802.1b devices in a 
802.11g network. Apparently the faster 802.11g devices slow to the 
"b" speeds.

Anyone have experience with this. I understand that my Icebook can 
only use the standard Airport card 802.11b. Will this slow down the 
802.11g network at my wife's office?

We're configuring the wireless net now, so tis is the time to make decisions.
