Again, if > it makes you a little faster than the other guy.... > > Mike Beede > Hehe, I like the bear analogy!! 128bit encryption is incredibly tough to crack if you sit down and type in the 340,282,366,920,938,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (2^128) possible combinations. Even a fast computer will take some time trying to break this code. I have read in the Linksys Docs that using 128 bit encryption slows down the router, sometimes noticeably. The router that I bought came with 5 different encryption keys and I can just click on a different one when ever I feel like changing the locks on the house. Of course, that also means I have to go to each wireless device and change the key. Just like the deadbolt lock on your house, they are only designed to keep the honest people out... if someone really wants in, they will get in be it home, computer, car, where ever. How scary is the thought that your typical home lock key would work on 1 of out of about 1000 locks of the same brand, that lock picking guns are openly sold for $40 at "spy" shops unregulated, that certain programable remote control devices could capture the signal from your keyless entry car locks and used to open your car... yes, I can out run at least one of my friends...
