Hi Pat, I also have a Clamshell and am using MacOS9.1 I use a little program called Spelltools and its excellent. I can type e-mails and have SpellTools check it with the click of a button. I can e-mail It to you as I have saved the .sit file that they were originally available in. I believe it is the perfect program for your friend. :)
