Panther on Windoze 2000 network

I've upgraded an iBook 600 to Panther, basically from 9.2. It had 
10.1 on it but that was never used.

Previously we used Dave to get with the Win2k Server network and that 
worked passably well. With Panther it appears that Dave is out the 
window, but I understand that it should have no problems networking. 
I plugged it in at home on a mixed network and it spotted the wife's 
XP machine immediately.

I've used the "assist me" options in "Network" but got no response.

Suggestions?
