[iBook] Modem problem

Hello All,

Looking for guidance with a modem problem on G4 iBook. Worked fined for
months. Now not connecting. Tries to dial, but never connects. Getting a
message that "communication device can not be detected." Setting are
correct. Tested with different phone lines and jacks with same results. I
assume the modem is fried.

Was told there are "known" bugs with the modems and X, but was not told any
other way to test if modem was really "bad" or if there could be a software
issue. Any ideas/suggestions much appreciated.
