There is a decent shareware program (I think $15) called "LockOut." There is a version for OS X and OS 9. Make sure you download the right one. I used it in OS 9. It is not military level security but is adequate for most people in day to day situations. I think it is about the same level of security you get with OS X Login passwords. However, there is advise on the LockOut site for how you can make LockOut a bit more secure. <http://www.modesittsoftware.com/Contents/LockOut/LockOut.html> ----------- ---- QuicKeys is my new favorite way to control my Mac! <http://www.webcontactpro.net/app/aftrack.asp?afid=5113> ---------------- Greg Martinez gregmartinez at mac.com iMac 17" G4, 1GHz, OS 10.3.4, 768 MB RAM. iBook 12" G4, 800MHz, OS 10.3.4, 640 MB RAM. ---------------- On Sep 15, 2004, at 4:49 PM, goodidea wrote: > Hello, > I am new to this list and also new to mac so forgive me for asking a > simple > question. > I am running OS 9.2.2 on an iBook I have been given recently.
