Hi everyone, OK I am wireless now (as I type this) for the FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE! This was not without a huge screw-up though and likely many mistakes and certainly a lot of profanity. :-P After asking for guidance here some time ago, I bought a "new to me" Airport Base Station. I have to use a dial-up (slow) connection since we live on a farm in the middle of nowhere, so this was the one I had to get... the "Graphite" one. I actually received it in the mail about 10 days ago but have been hesitant to mess up a "good thing" (namely, lose my internet connection entirely) and sure enough, getting the d*mn thing configured and working was pretty much a disaster. It just seemed like following the "instructions" (that came with it) was not at all useful, nor intuitive. I wound up farting around (pardon the expression) with various other "set up" configurations and etc on the iBook and by some miracle - I'm not even sure how - I finally got A) the iBook to recognize and "talk" to the Station, and B) the Station to dial into and "talk" to our ISP. Hallelujah. Now I can sit outside in the 100 degree weather this weekend and surf the web. HA. Or, more likely, I can sit in the comfortable A/C on a leather couch and surf the web, while watching a DVD and with several dogs snoozing around me... many feet away from the old "tether" of a phone cord that made me stay near the phone plug-in! Cheers!!! Take care, Michelle & Wireless Herd happydog at ccp.com http://www.happydogsrescue.com
